Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and Department of Computer Science and Business System SRINIVAS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY Valachil, Mangaluru A SESSION ON THE POWER OF VOICE: VERBAL SELF-DEFENCE AND BOUNDARY SETTING. The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) and the Department of Computer Science and Business System (CSBS), in association with the Women Cell, organized an insightful session on The Power of Voice: Verbal Self-Defence and Boundary Setting. The program was conducted in the Seminar Hall and witnessed active participation from students and faculty members. The session began with a welcome speech by Jitheeksha, a third-year student from the ECE department, who warmly introduced the session and its significance. The resource person for the session was Ms. Riktha Kiran, a third-year student from the ECE department. Sameeksha from the CSBS department accompanied for the demo session, adding value to the practical demonstrations. The highlights of the session included: Understanding the significance of voice in self-defence, techniques for assertive communication and setting boundaries, Practical demonstrations on verbal self-defence, Hands-on session to practice voice modulation and confident speech, Application of self-defence strategies in real-life situations. The session included both demonstration and hands-on activities, making it an engaging and practical learning experience. Participants learned how to use their voice as a powerful self-defence tool and practiced various techniques for effective verbal boundary setting. The session was highly informative and interactive, equipping participants with essential skills in verbal self-defence. It successfully emphasized the importance of using one’s voice as a means of setting boundaries and protecting oneself in various situations.
