The Department of Information Science and Engineering (ISE) at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, organised a Poster Presentation titled “Innovision: Mini Project Validation and Poster Showcase” on 20th February 2026, in collaboration with the Yukthi Cell under the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC). The event was conducted with the objective of identifying, validating, and showcasing innovative ideas proposed by Pre-final Year (V Semester) students, while encouraging structured innovation and early-stage technology development.

The event witnessed active participation from students, who presented posters outlining their mini project concepts across diverse and emerging domains. The showcased ideas reflected contemporary technological trends, including Artificial Intelligence, data-driven systems, automation, and smart applications. The platform enabled students to demonstrate analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and out-of-the-box innovation. It served as a constructive environment for validating ideas at an early stage and refining them through expert evaluation.

A key highlight of the event was the integration of Technology Readiness Level (TRL) Mapping (TRL 1–4) to systematically assess project maturity. The evaluation framework categorized projects as follows:

TRL 1 – Basic Principles Observed: Conceptual ideas and theoretical foundations identified.

TRL 2 – Technology Concept Formulated: Problem statement defined with a proposed technical solution.

TRL 3 – Experimental Proof of Concept: Initial validation through simulations, models, or preliminary prototypes.

TRL 4 – Technology Validated in Laboratory Environment: Functional prototype tested in a controlled environment.

This structured TRL-based evaluation enabled students to understand the progression pathway from conceptualization to validated prototype, thereby aligning mini projects with innovation and startup readiness frameworks promoted by IIC.

The event was judged by Prof. Sowmya, Assistant Professor, Department of ISE, and Prof. K. Vaishnavi Rao, Department of ISE, who evaluated projects based on novelty, technical feasibility, societal relevance, scalability, and potential impact. The judging panel provided constructive feedback, guiding students on how to enhance technical robustness and advance their projects to higher TRL stages.

The event received strong support from Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal of Srinivas Institute of Technology, and Dr. Praveen Shenoy, Coordinator of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC). Their encouragement and vision for fostering innovation-driven education played a pivotal role in the successful organization of the program. The event was meticulously planned and executed under the leadership of Prof. Sudarshan K, Head of the Department of ISE. The seamless coordination by Prof. Sowmya and Prof. K. Vaishnavi Rao ensured the smooth conduct of all activities. The Poster Presentation concluded successfully, fostering a strong culture of innovation, structured validation, and critical thinking among students. By incorporating TRL mapping into mini project validation, the event not only encouraged creativity but also introduced students to a research-oriented and startup-focused development approach. The overwhelming participation and enthusiasm demonstrated the department’s commitment to nurturing future innovators and technocrats, in alignment with the institute’s vision of promoting excellence and innovation.
