Exposure to Data Analytics in the Business Management Sector

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized an Expert Talk on “Exposure to Data Analytics in the Business Management Sector” on 13th February 2026 at the Seminar Hall. The session aimed to provide students with insights into the growing significance of data analytics in modern business management and decision-making processes.

The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal; Dr. Suresha D, Head of the Department, CSE; Dr. Praveen Shenoy, IIC Coordinator; Dr. Jithendra P R Naik, Department IIC Coordinator; and Prof. Harishma K V, Department IIC Coordinator. Their constant support and encouragement played a vital role in organizing the programme successfully.

The session was delivered by Mr. Chinmayananda R. M, an esteemed alumnus of the institution, who is currently serving as Assistant Team Leader – Business Operations, ATL, Cultfit, Bangalore. The resource person shared his professional experience and explained how data analytics plays a crucial role in business strategy, customer behavior analysis, operational efficiency, and performance optimization. He discussed how organizations collect, process, and analyse data to make informed business decisions.

During the talk, he highlighted key concepts such as data-driven decision making, business intelligence, predictive analytics, and the use of analytical tools in business environments. He also emphasized the importance of technical skills such as data visualization, SQL, Python, Excel, and statistical analysis for aspiring data analysts. Real-world examples from the fitness and business operations sector helped students understand the practical applications of analytics in industry.

The resource person also guided students on career opportunities in data analytics, including roles such as Data Analyst, Business Analyst, Operations Analyst, and Data Scientist. He encouraged students to build strong analytical thinking skills and continuously upgrade their technical knowledge to remain competitive in the evolving job market.

Students from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering actively participated in the session and found it highly informative and career-oriented. The interaction session allowed students to clarify their doubts regarding career paths, required certifications, and industry expectations.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource person for delivering an insightful and engaging session. The department looks forward to organizing more such expert talks to bridge the gap between academics and industry practices.
