The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, in association with the All-Students Mechanical Association (ASMA), Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, organized an Engineers’ Day Celebration on 15 September 2026 at 3:30 PM at M101.

The programme was organized to commemorate Engineers’ Day and recognize the significant contributions of engineers towards technological advancement, innovation, and nation-building. The celebration highlighted the vital role of engineering professionals in developing sustainable solutions and shaping a better future.

The programme was graced by Dr. Umashankar K.S., Professor, Department of Aeronautical Engineering, as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the vital role of engineers in transforming ideas into practical solutions that benefit society. He emphasized that engineering is not merely about technical knowledge but also encompasses innovation, creativity, problem-solving, ethical responsibility, and continuous learning. He encouraged students to keep themselves updated with emerging technologies, develop strong practical skills, and apply their engineering knowledge to address real-world challenges.

Delivering the Presidential Address, Dr. Shankar K.S., Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, highlighted the significance of Engineers’ Day and the indispensable role played by engineers in the progress and development of society. He emphasized the importance of technical competence, innovation, professional ethics, and social responsibility in an engineer’s career. He also urged the students to strive for excellence and continuously upgrade their knowledge and skills, reminding them that the engineers of today have the responsibility to build a smarter, sustainable, and better tomorrow.

The celebration was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D., Principal, Srinivas Institute of Technology. Professor Sandesh K.S., Faculty Co-ordinator, ASMA, coordinated the programme, with Muhammed Thouheed serving as the Student Co-ordinator.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Chief Guest, institute management, faculty members, and students for their valuable contributions towards making the Engineers’ Day celebration meaningful and successful.
