The Department of MBA, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil, in association with the Industry Institute Interaction Cell (IIIC), organized a field visit titled “Insights from the Port: Understanding Logistics and Port Management” to New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA), Panambur, Mangalore, on 10th June 2026 for the II Semester MBA students. The visit was aimed at providing students with practical exposure to port operations, logistics management, cargo handling processes, and the strategic role of ports in international trade and economic development. The students gained valuable insights into the functioning of one of India’s major ports and its contribution to supply chain efficiency and maritime commerce.

The field visit offered an excellent opportunity for students to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry practices. Officials at NMPA explained various aspects of port management, including cargo movement, infrastructure facilities, safety measures, and technological advancements adopted in port operations. The visit enhanced students’ understanding of logistics and supply chain management while exposing them to real-world challenges and opportunities in the maritime sector. The program was coordinated by Prof. Mallika, Prof. Mithun Raj, and Prof. Priyanka, who accompanied and guided the students throughout the visit, ensuring a meaningful and enriching learning experience
