Workshop on Raising Capital and Financial Management for Startups Conducted by AI&DS Department at SIT

The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI&DS), Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, organized a Workshop on Raising Capital and Financial Management for Startups on 04th May 2026 from 11:15 AM to 11:55 AM at the Project Lab, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and the Innovation Club. The workshop aimed to enhance students’ understanding of financial planning, investment strategies, and capital acquisition methods that are essential for establishing and sustaining successful start-up ventures.

The session provided participants with comprehensive insights into the fundamentals of raising capital and managing finances within start-up ecosystems. Students were introduced to various funding avenues, including bootstrapping, angel investment, venture capital, crowdfunding, bank financing, and government support schemes. The workshop enabled participants to understand the financial requirements of entrepreneurial ventures and the opportunities available for securing investment and business support.

A significant focus of the workshop was on effective financial management practices such as budgeting, cash flow management, financial planning, investment strategies, risk assessment, and sustainable decision-making. Participants gained valuable knowledge on how start-ups can efficiently utilize resources, reduce financial risks, and develop long-term strategies for business growth and operational sustainability.

The workshop also highlighted practical challenges faced by entrepreneurs and discussed best practices for achieving financial stability, scalability, and long-term success in emerging business ventures. Through interactive discussions, students developed a deeper understanding of entrepreneurial finance and the critical role of sound financial management in start-up success.

The event was conducted under the guidance and encouragement of Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal, and under the supervision of Prof. Nagaraja Hebbar N, Head of the Department of AI&DS. The program received continuous support from Prof. Shailesh Shetty, Innovation Cell Coordinator; Prof. Praveen Shenoy, IIC Coordinator; Prof. Ganapathi Sharma, Event Coordinator, AI&DS; and Prof. Ajay Prinston Pinto, AADE Coordinator, AI&DS.

The workshop concluded with an engaging interaction session where participants clarified their queries related to funding opportunities, financial planning, and start-up management practices. The program proved to be highly informative and beneficial in strengthening students’ awareness of entrepreneurial finance and motivating them to develop financially sustainable and innovative business ideas.
