World Innovation Day – Marine Ideathon
The Department of Marine Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, organized World Innovation Day – Marine Ideathon on 21/04/2026. The program was conducted in association with AIMES and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC). The event was organized to celebrate World Innovation Day and to encourage students to identify practical engineering problems and present innovative solutions. The main objective of the Marine Ideathon was to promote creativity, technical thinking, interdisciplinary participation, and problem-solving ability among students.
The program was coordinated by Prof. Vivek V Kumar, AIMES Coordinator and Event Coordinator. The event was conducted in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council under the coordination of Prof. Sunil P Rodrigues, IIC Coordinator. The program was held with the support and guidance of Dr. Lokesh V, HOD, Department of Marine Engineering, and under the encouragement of Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal, Srinivas Institute of Technology.
A total of 10 teams participated in the Marine Ideathon and submitted their innovation proposals. The teams presented unique ideas related to marine engineering, sustainability, technology, safety, automation, and practical problem-solving. The event provided a platform for students to express their ideas, refine their concepts, and understand how innovative thinking can be applied to real-world engineering challenges.
The program also witnessed participation from students of other branches, making the event more interdisciplinary in nature. Their ideas added wider technical perspectives and helped create a collaborative innovation environment. The participation of students from different departments reflected the importance of innovation beyond a single discipline and encouraged cross-branch knowledge sharing.
