The Department of Marine Engineering at Srinivas Institute of Technology, in association with the Industry–Institute Interaction Cell and AIMES, organized an industrial visit to Kochi from 5 March 2026 to 6 March 2026. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to industrial operations, manufacturing processes, and workplace safety practices. The industrial visit was successfully conducted under the guidance of Principal Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D and Head of the Department Dr. Lokesh V, and was coordinated by Prof. Vivek Vijay Kumar and Prof. Nithin Joshuva.

During the visit, students explored four industries: Sea Blue Shipyard Ltd, Vypin Shipyard Pvt Ltd, Kerala Electrical and Allied Engineering Company Limited, and Anna Aluminium Company Ltd. At Sea Blue Shipyard and Vypin Shipyard, students observed shipbuilding, fabrication, welding, and vessel maintenance processes. Engineers explained the stages involved in ship construction, including design, material preparation, assembly, and repair works.

At Kerala Electrical and Allied Engineering Company Limited, students learned about the manufacturing and testing of electrical equipment such as transformers, motors, and switchgear components. They also observed machining, assembly, and quality control operations.

At Anna Aluminium Company Ltd, students studied the manufacturing process of aluminium utensils and cookware products. The visit provided insights into metal forming, finishing, polishing, and product quality inspection.

Students also observed various industrial safety measures, including the use of protective equipment, safety instructions, and workplace safety practices followed in all industries. Overall, the industrial visit was highly informative and helped students understand the practical application of engineering concepts such as manufacturing, welding, machining, material science, quality control, and industrial safety. The visit successfully bridged the gap between theoretical learning and practical industrial experience.
