An educational trip titled “Exploring Heritage, Environment, and Social Harmony” was organized on 1st and 2nd May 2026 by the Departments of Computer Science and Design (CSD) & Information Science and Engineering (ISE), under the NSS Unit of Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru. The program was designed to provide experiential learning and to promote cultural awareness, environmental responsibility, and national integration among students.
The activity focused on exposing students to historical, cultural, and ecological aspects through visits to significant locations. Students visited Kuppali Kavimane, where they gained insights into the life and legacy of the renowned Kannada poet Kuvempu, enhancing their understanding of literary and cultural heritage. The visit also included spiritually significant places such as Sringeri Sharada Peetham and Horanadu Annapoorneshwari Temple, which helped in promoting cultural values, unity, and social harmony among students.
Further, students explored agricultural practices through a visit to a coffee estate, where they learned about cultivation techniques and sustainable farming methods. An environmental cleanliness drive was conducted at Ettina Bhuja Peak, encouraging students to actively participate in maintaining environmental cleanliness and ecological balance. Plantation and adoption of plants under the theme “Know Your Plants” were also carried out, reinforcing the importance of environmental sustainability.
Students participated enthusiastically throughout the program, demonstrating active involvement and teamwork. The activity contributed to enhancing awareness of environmental conservation, strengthening cultural understanding, and fostering a sense of social responsibility. It also fulfilled NSS syllabus criteria such as plantation activities and promotion of national integration and social harmony through workshops and field activities.
