The Department of Aeronautical and Automobile Engineering at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil, Mangaluru, organized a Field/Exposure Visit to Tech transfer centre - Centre for System Design (CSD) Lab at NITK, Surathkal on 17th March 2026 as part of the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) activity.

The objective of this visit was to provide students with hands-on exposure to pre-incubation facilities such as Design Center, which play a crucial role in fostering innovation, prototyping, and product development. The visit aimed to familiarize students with the state-of-the-art tools, software, and methodologies used in product design and development, encouraging them to think critically and develop innovative solutions for real-world challenges.

During the visit, students explored various cutting-edge tools and technologies available at the CSD Lab, including advanced design software, prototyping equipment, and system modeling setups. Experts at the lab provided insights into real-world applications of design and system integration, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in engineering innovation. The students had the opportunity to interact with researchers and faculty members at NITK, gaining valuable knowledge about the latest trends in automation, mechatronics, and digital fabrication.

The visit was coordinated by Mr. Prakash T and Mr. Vinod Kumar (Staff Coordinators) under the guidance of Dr. Praveen Shenoy (IIC Coordinator). The event was graced by Dr. Sandesh Kumar Rai (HOD, Automobile Engineering) and Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D (Principal, SIT).

This exposure visit significantly enhanced the students' understanding of innovation ecosystems, enabling them to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications in engineering design and system development. The experience provided a strong foundation for students to explore research, entrepreneurship, and advanced engineering solutions, preparing them for future industry challenges.
