AI for Social Good: Empowering Communities for a Sustainable Future

The Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Aeronautical Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil, Mangaluru, organized an outreach program titled “AI for Social Good: Empowering Communities for a Sustainable Future” on 21st February, from 09:00 AM to 01:00 PM, at Sacred Heart High School, Madanthyar.

The program was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among school students about the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its role in addressing societal challenges. The initiative aimed to introduce young minds to emerging technologies and inspire them to think innovatively about sustainable development and community empowerment through AI-driven solutions. During the session, faculty members and student representatives from the Departments of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering interacted with the students and demonstrated practical applications of AI in areas such as education, healthcare, environmental sustainability, smart systems, and automation. The program emphasized how AI can be used responsibly for social good and sustainable growth.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students and staff of Sacred Heart High School. The interactive sessions, demonstrations, and discussions helped in building awareness about technological advancements and encouraged students to explore future career opportunities in engineering and innovation.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the school management, faculty members, coordinators, and students for their cooperation and active participation. The outreach initiative successfully reflected the institution’s commitment towards community engagement, innovation awareness, and the promotion of technology for societal development in alignment with the objectives of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC).
