An Innovation Screening & Mentorship Panel was organized on 21st February 2026 by the Departments of Computer Science and Design (CSD) and Information Science and Engineering (ISE) in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru. The program was conducted in the Department Seminar Hall from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM with the objective of identifying innovative student ideas, providing expert guidance, and promoting a strong culture of innovation, design thinking, and entrepreneurship among students.

The session served as a platform for students to present their innovative project proposals before a panel of faculty mentors, who evaluated the ideas based on novelty, technical feasibility, societal relevance, scalability, and potential for real-time implementation. The mentors offered valuable suggestions for refining the problem statements, selecting appropriate technologies, improving the methodology, and enhancing the overall impact of the projects. The screening process helped students understand the importance of structured innovation, research orientation, and product-based development.

The mentoring interactions enabled students to gain deeper insights into transforming academic projects into workable prototypes and startup ideas. Guidance was also provided on interdisciplinary collaboration, identifying funding opportunities, participating in innovation contests, and aligning their work with national initiatives such as IIC. The event created an encouraging environment for students to think creatively, address real-world challenges, and develop solutions with social and industrial relevance.

Students from both CSD and ISE departments actively participated and presented innovative ideas in emerging domains such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), smart applications, software-based solutions, and technology for social impact. The interactive nature of the session allowed students to clarify their doubts, receive constructive feedback, and gain motivation to further enhance their projects into research-oriented and entrepreneurial ventures.

The successful organization of this program was made possible through the constant support and encouragement of Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal of Srinivas Institute of Technology, whose vision continuously inspires innovation and research-driven activities in the institution. The event was carried out under the leadership of Prof. Sudarshan K, Head of the Department of Information Science and Engineering and Computer Science and Design. The program was efficiently coordinated by Prof. Athmaranjan K and Prof. Prajwal K S, Event Coordinators, with the support of Prof. Sowmya, ISE Staff Advisor, and Prof. Archana Devadiga, CSD Staff Advisor, whose collective efforts ensured the smooth and successful execution of the event. The innovative ideas presented by students were also evaluated by Assistant Professor Ganesh from the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML), whose expert insights further strengthened the screening and mentorship process.

The Innovation Screening & Mentorship Panel proved to be highly beneficial for students by providing them with expert direction, enhancing their innovative thinking abilities, and motivating them to convert their ideas into impactful projects and potential startups, thereby strengthening the innovation ecosystem within the institution.
