ALPHATHON – Innovate for Humanity: Decoding Tomorrow’s Challenges.
On 17th February 2026, the Department of Computer Science and Design (CSD) and the Department of Information Science and Engineering (ISE), in association with the Institute’s Innovation Cell (IIC), organized a technical hackathon titled “ALPHATHON – Innovate for Humanity: Decoding Tomorrow’s Challenges.” The event was conducted at the Ethnotech Lab from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
ALPHATHON was designed as an innovation-driven hackathon aimed at encouraging students to develop creative, technology-based solutions addressing real-world societal challenges. The event provided a dynamic platform for participants to apply their knowledge in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Software Development, UI/UX Design, and emerging technologies to build impactful prototypes within a limited timeframe.
The hackathon commenced with an inaugural address emphasizing the importance of innovation and responsible technological development for humanity. Participants were formed into teams and provided with problem statements aligned with themes such as sustainable development, smart automation, healthcare solutions, environmental sustainability, and digital transformation.
Throughout the event, students actively brainstormed, designed, and developed working prototypes under faculty guidance. The evaluation of projects was carried out by the esteemed judges Prof. Vivek Vijay Kumar and Prof. Alwyn Edison Mendonca, who assessed the teams based on innovation, technical feasibility, implementation strategy, creativity, and societal impact. Their expert insights and constructive feedback provided valuable learning opportunities for the participants.
The event was conducted under the leadership and encouragement of Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal, Srinivas Institute of Technology. Valuable guidance and support were extended by Prof. Sudarshana K, HOD, ISE & CSD. The program was coordinated under IIC by Dr. Praveen Shenoy, IIC Coordinator. Academic guidance was provided by Prof. Sowmya, ISE Staff Advisor, and Prof. Archana D, CSD Staff Advisor. The event was efficiently coordinated by Prof. Aparna N, ISE Staff Coordinator, and Prof. Sahana B, CSD Staff Coordinator, ensuring the smooth execution of the hackathon.
The organizing team included student coordinators P. Prajwal, Ishwarya, Sanvi S Shetty, and Ujwal, whose dedicated efforts contributed significantly to the successful conduct of the program.
Overall, ALPHATHON created an engaging and competitive environment that fostered teamwork, innovation, and problem-solving skills among students. The event aligned with the objectives of IIC in nurturing young innovators and empowering students to develop impactful solutions for societal challenges.
