AI for Social Good: Inclusive Solutions for Sustainable Development
The Department of Mechanical Engineering, under the banner of the All-Student Mechanical Association (ASMA), in association with the Department of Marine Engineering, Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), EDP Cell, Start-up and Incubation Cell, and III Cell, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, organized an expert session titled “AI for Social Good: Inclusive Solutions for Sustainable Development” on 09th February 2026 at 02:00 PM in M201.
The session was organized with the objective of creating awareness about the role of Artificial Intelligence in addressing societal challenges and promoting sustainable development through inclusive and innovative solutions. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members across departments.
The Resource Person for the session was Mr. Shashank S, Assistant Professor, Department of Training & Placement. He delivered an insightful presentation on how Artificial Intelligence can be effectively utilized for social impact, sustainable growth, and inclusive technological development. He emphasized the importance of ethical AI practices, problem-solving approaches, and interdisciplinary collaboration in building solutions that benefit society at large. During the session, the speaker highlighted real-world applications of AI in areas such as healthcare, environmental sustainability, education, and smart infrastructure. He encouraged students to leverage emerging technologies responsibly and to align their technical skills with societal needs to create meaningful impact.
The program was successfully conducted under the guidance of Prof. Sandesh K. The session concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the management, resource person, faculty members, and students for their active participation and support. The event successfully enhanced students’ understanding of Artificial Intelligence as a powerful tool for inclusive growth and sustainable development.
